My amazing Mother in law

Created by Clare one year ago

I was nervous meeting Mum for the first time, hoping she would like me. I didn't need to worry, she welcomed me with open arms.

Mum had a great sense of humour. We spent many an hour laughing and chatting together while waiting for Alan to cook our dinner (always late!)

Mum always had a sense of adventure which included her first holiday abroad with us when she was in her seventies. Jack had to sit next to his Grandma on the plane because "Grandma might get scared and i need to hold her hand" After that, there was no stopping her even going on a bowls trip to Portugal.

She amazed me with her 'Can-do' attitude. She would try new things and adapt quickly to new technology. "I can't be left behind" she would say. She was a life long learner with a curious mind that she passed on to all of us.

Mum would be the first one to help if you needed it, friends & family alike. One time, she dropped everything to help me out in London & i will always be grateful for that.

She was the glue that kept us all coming back to the forest. There was always a house full at Mum's. We would come to laugh, play games, look at her ever growing photo family tree on the wall but most importantly to spend time with her while eating her delicious rock cakes. (The secret is in the choice of sultana, apparently)

I will miss seeing her sitting in her chair by the radiator, wearing a 'Daphne Bird' original outfit (which included fabulous checked trousers) trying to work out that days crypic crossword while asking Alan what he plans on cooking gor dinner.

She was a wonderful Mother in Law and a fantastic Grandma to Jack and Katie. She loved us all very much and we loved her back equally.
